This year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of Volm Companies Product Solutions and Erosion Control Division. “Antigo’s best kept secret!”

While what started as a small division of just a few employees and a handful of products has grown over the years in size and with additional product offerings.

In the 1999 growing season, California experienced a deep freeze which wiped out much of the citrus crop. At the time, Volm heavily relied on the citrus industry for sales of its Raschel knitted produce bags. The freeze devastated the factory and its employees with more than 70% loss in production for that year.

The Volm family quickly realized the need to diversify outside of the fresh produce market to ensure stability for the future. Using the same knitting machines that once manufactured produce bags, Volm slowly converted their equipment to manufacture a new product line: Technical Mesh Fabrics.

Volm’s Product Solutions and Erosion Control Division now offers over 30 products with technical mesh fabrics made right here in Antigo, WI. Here are the four markets Volm Companies, Product Solutions and Erosion Control Division serve:

Erosion Control

Culverts & Drainage

Volm is a dealer for ADS plastic and steel culverts and offers a complete line of drainage accessories and drain tiles, which includes end caps and plugs, coupling solutions, animal gates, PVC fittings septic tanks, and the occasional intake riser tops and bottoms.

Today, the Antigo Raschel Manufacturing Facility continues to support the fresh produce industry, however, now most of its products support technical mesh markets.
