Volm’s Follow the Bag & Summer Internship Programs a Success!
August 22, 2022

This summer Volm had seven interns participate in our Follow the Bag and Summer Internship programs. Interns participated across the country at our Volm office locations, three in our corporate office located in Antigo, WI, three in Idaho Falls, ID, and one in Pasco, WA.

Interns received hands-on experience working in a variety of departments including Purchasing, Production, Finance, Sales, Inventory Control, Human Resources, Safety, IT, Transportation, Logistics, Marketing, Equipment, and even visiting some of our customers.

For a college student, this internship opportunity is a terrific way to gain insights that connect their field of study to the experiences of the work. Helping them to confirm their field of study or allow them to find a more specific career path.

Our interns shared a little about themselves along with their experiences they had while at Volm.

My name is Carson, I will be a senior at Northern Illinois University next year finishing my bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Sales. This summer has been a great learning experience for me to advance my business and professional skills while learning relevant information about our industry! My favorite part of the internship is connecting and talking with the people and employees of Volm because their knowledge always gives me more perspective on how to succeed in and outside of the business.

Hello, I am Spencer, and I’m on my last year at North Central Technical College, going into Video Production. My favorite part at Volm was working with the Volm community.

My name is Grace, and I just finished my first year of college at UW-Oshkosh and I am going for International Business. My favorite part about the internship was truly getting a better understanding of how trucking works. There are so many parts and people that go into trucking, and it was super cool watching how it all comes together.

Hi! My name is Brandon, I am going to be a junior at Concordia University-Saint Paul in the upcoming fall, majoring in business management. My favorite part is being able to see how all the different departments operate. This a rare opportunity to get to see how a business this large operates at each level.

I'm Matt, a sophomore at Brigham Young University, majoring in computer science and minoring in French. My favorite part of working at Volm has been learning the day-to-day operations of making the product. It's been interesting to see how much time, effort, and thought goes into making the various products that Volm and Yellowstone Plastics offer.

My name is Brigham, and I am studying Business Finance at Brigham Young University-Idaho. My favorite part of working at Volm is seeing how each department works together to accomplish goals. I specifically enjoyed my week in finance with Sarah, she gave me a few projects that I really enjoyed and found interesting, which helped affirm my choice to study finance at school.

My name is Jaxson, and I am currently enrolled at Idaho State University. I am a senior this fall majoring in finance and management. My favorite part of working at Volm would be the career and life advice that our leaders/managers were able to give us. The lessons that were taught during this internship will be important for future success in my career.

Volm understands that the development of talent is an important investment we as a company can make and exposing students to the range of experiences Volm has to offer is both exciting and eye opening for them. As a company, we are proud to support and engage with these incredible and enthusiastic students.
